Stafford Cottage is ideally situated with many activities within easy reach – eg the Jurassic Coast, wetlands (a bird watchers paradise) and four golf courses all within 20 minutes’ drive. Colyford village itself has two pubs (www.wheelwrightinn.com and www.whiteheartcolyford.co.uk) serving excellent food, a post office and general store. The seaside town of Seaton is only 10 minutes away with its well-known beach and harbour; a cycle path will take you from Seaton into Colyton following the River Axe.

Just 6.8 miles away you will find multi-award winning writer and broadcaster Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's River Cottage HQ popular for it's variety of courses and events (www.rivercottage.net).

Adults and children alike will enjoy visiting the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Centre and finding out about the local geological, coastal and marine heritage in nearby Seaton (www.seatonjurassic.org). 

We are situated just 30 minutes from the home of Broadchurch the award winning crime thriller set in the picturesque seaside town of West Bay.

 

For the less energetic there is a tram (www.tram.co.uk) running from Seaton to Colyford and then to Colyton where you can stop for a famous Devon cream tea. The village of Beer is only a short drive away where you can sit and watch the fishing boats unloading their catch or hire a boat and enjoy a spot of mackerel fishing.  The coastal town of Lyme Regis, noted for its fossils and historic fishing port, is approximately 15 minutes away.

 

Exeter University City is approximately a 40 minute drive away with shops galore and the wonderful Exeter cathedral. There are many activities for the children from large amusements parks (eg Crealy - www.crealy.co.uk) to horse riding. Dartmoor National Park (www.dartmoor-npa.gov.uk) is approximately 1 hour’s drive away where you can spend many an hour walking, horse-riding, climbing, kayaking etc.
